  • Recall that Obi, despite being a first-time contender, came third in the 2023 presidential election with over six million votes and he is expected to give it a go again in 2027.

Former presidential candidate of the Labour Party, LP, Peter Obi, met with the Governor of Bauchi State, Bala Mohammed, on Thursday.

The closed-door meeting took place
at the Ramat House in Bauchi.

The details of the meeting are yet to be made public but it is gathered that it may not be unconnected to the 2027 presidential election.

The duo are expected to brief journalists after the meeting.

Recall that Obi, despite being a first-time contender, came third in the 2023 presidential election with over six million votes and he is expected to give it a go again in 2027.

Recently, ex-Kaduna Governor Nasir El-Rufai dumped the All Progressives Congress, APC, for the Social Democratic Party, SDP, in what appears to be a strategic move to build an opposition coalition.

El-Rufai is also reportedly discussing with Obi, despite years of political rivalry.

The speculation gained traction after El-Rufai’s son, Bashir El-Rufai, hinted that Obi might be joining the SDP.
