Governor of Borno State, Babagana Zulum has debunked claims that he plans to leave the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

Recall that a social media post which has gone viral had claimed that Zulum and five other APC governors were finalizing plans to leave the ruling party.

Zulum while reacting via a statement on Sunday, described the claim as “fictitious and mischievous”, noting that it was fabricated by political detractors.

“They are detractors who have made no meaningful contribution to the progress of Borno State or Nigeria.

“It is a classic example of cheap, politically motivated speculation designed solely to distract us and create unnecessary political tension.”

The governor said his “loyalty to the APC remains firm” and that he is focused on the development of Borno.

Zulum called on media organizations and the public to rely only on credible and official sources of information.

“I urge the good people of Borno and the general public to disregard this fabrication. We have no time for cheap politics; our hands are full with the noble task of rebuilding and developing our dear state,” he added.

“We remain resolute in our commitment to serving Borno state under the banner of our great party, the APC.”

“This is entirely false and exists only in the imagination of its sponsors,” the statement reads.
