Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State has slammed a 24-hour curfew on Lamurde Local Government Area with immediate effect.
The move, announced in a statement by the chief press secretary to the governor, Humwashi Wonosikou, is to tackle rising insecurity.
He said the governor’s decision followed a series of violent attacks and repeated breaches of peace in communities across Lamurde.
“The government views these disturbances as unacceptable and has directed security agencies to enforce the curfew strictly,” he stated.
Wonosikou warned that any individual or group found flouting the order would be apprehended and prosecuted accordingly.
He stressed the resolve of the state government to safeguard lives and property while ensuring peace across the area.
