During Buhari’s administration, reports were rife in the media that a powerful cabals were the decision-makers and not the former president.
Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Friday, Shehu said it was unthinkable that Buhari, a former military General, would surrender his power to some people.
He noted Buhari had a mind of his own and couldn’t be influenced or take orders from anybody.
He stated that, as a president, it was a given that Buhari would receive many pieces of advice, suggestions and propositions, but he retained the power to make the final decision, as the buck stops at his table.
According to Shehu: “This thing about cabal is sheer nonsense. Buhari is a military general, even when he converted to a democrat.
“He was used to giving orders and not taking them from anybody. I have not known one person who will give you 100 percent assurance that when I tell Buhari A, B, C is black, he will say A, B, C is black.
“He had his own mind. You can have anybody around you, people will come and advise you, but the buck stops on his table. I tell you that nobody can guarantee it.”
