The body of former president, Muhammadu Buhari, has left London, United Kingdom, for Katsina State ahead of burial rites.
He is expected to be buried later today in Daura, his hometown in Katsina State.
A video broadcast by Channels Television on Tuesday showed Buhari’s remains being flown out aboard the Nigerian presidential jet.
Vice President Kashim Shettima and the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, and other top government officials accompanied the body of the late former president.
Buhari passed on on Sunday, July 13, 2025, in a London hospital, at about 4.30 pm, following a prolonged illness, though the nature of the illness was not disclosed.
He was 82.
President Bola Tinubu is expected to receive the body of the late president in Katsina by Tuesday noon.
