- Ucheonye Stephen praised Otti’s commitment to reviving water infrastructure in the Aba region.
- John Udeagbala said the governor’s efforts reflect the expectations of the organised private sector in the city.
The governor of Abia State, Alex Otti, has urged security agencies to ensure the protection of public property and assets.
Otti made the call during the flag-off of the resuscitation of the Aba regional water scheme and the state Integrated WASH Accelerated Programme.
The event took place in Aba, the commercial hub of the state.
He said the project would guarantee steady and adequate water supply while supporting hygiene and proper sanitation practices.
According to him, the initiative will also boost emergency response efforts in times of fire disasters.
“The project will also support emergency response services, especially in moments of fire outbreaks, enabling rescue workers to save lives and mitigate damages to property,” he stated.
The member representing Aba Central constituency, Ucheonye Stephen, praised the governor for initiating the projects.
Similarly, the leader of the Aba organised private sector, John Udeagbala, commended Otti for his development-driven leadership.
In a goodwill message, the Catholic bishop of Aba Diocese, Most Rev. Prof. Augustine Echema, applauded the governor for the initiative.
He described the launch as a new beginning for the state, saying the governor is matching his words with action.
The cleric said, “Abia has not had it so good as it is today.”
Earlier, the general manager of the State Water and Sewage Corporation, Felix Okonkwo, said the event was a bold step to uplift residents’ living standards.
