President Bola Tinubu has congratulated the Super Falcons on winning the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.
The President’s message was conveyed in a statement by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, on Saturday.
The Super Falcons defeated the host nation in Rabat to clinch their 10th continental title in the history of the competition.
President Tinubu described the Falcons’ comeback victory as a reflection of the perseverance that symbolises the spirit of the Nigerian people.
“The Super Falcons’ spectacular performance tonight in Rabat, coming from behind to beat a spirited Moroccan side playing in front of a passionate home crowd, exemplifies the determination that defines the Nigerian spirit,” the President said.
He noted that the team’s triumph was achieved through hard work, resilience and national pride.
“With hard work, dedication, and tenacity, you have achieved the mission the nation dreamed of and prayed for.
“The nation looks forward to welcoming our champions. Congratulations! Nigeria celebrates you,” Tinubu added.
The result secured Nigeria’s 10th continental title and ensured they remain the most successful team in WAFCON history.
