More governors and political bigwigs are expected to defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC) before the 2027 general elections, Nasarawa State governor, Abdullahi Sule, has disclosed.

Sule made the disclosure on Saturday when he appeared on Politics Today, a programme on Channels Television.

He also debunked the allegation that the APC is blackmailing, coercing and intimidating opposition politicians to join the party.

The governor stated that the APC is actively strategising and planning ahead of the 2027 general election in response to the emergence of a coalition formed by opposition leaders.

He noted that the influx of political heavyweights from opposition parties into the APC resulted from their strategy.

“Yes, we have discussed. And it is not something, actually, that I will disclose here. You know, as they are planning, we are planning. We are in politics. We’re not just sitting down watching them plan. So as they plan, we plan. And at the end of the day, the better plans will take over.

“We keep getting more and more governors from the PDP joining us. Very soon, you will hear another governor joining us. You hear every day about senators decamping and coming back to the APC. Every day. These are all part of the plans, they’re not happening just by magic,” he said.

Recall that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had alleged that the APC are forcing their members, especially governors, to join the ruling party.

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) had also claimed that the reason governors are not joining the party is because of intimidation and persecution by the APC-led federal government.

The Nasarawa governor, however, dismissed the claims and allegations of both the PDP and the ADC.
