  • Sources in the community with intimate knowledge of the incident said the suspect was caught by a farmer, who saw Daniel while hiding the severed head of his brother in a bag

In Ondo State, a man simply identified as Daniel on Monday brutally murdered his 15-year-old younger brother.

The suspect allegedly beheaded the deceased, identified as Emmanuel, at the Origbara river in the Odigbo Local Government Area of the State.

The horrifying incident has cast a dark cloud of gloom, uncertainty and fear on the community as many villagers could not fathom what led the suspect, who is the son of a police officer, to commit such a heinous crime.

Sources in the community with intimate knowledge of the incident said the suspect was caught by a farmer, who saw Daniel while hiding the severed head of his brother in a bag.

A resident also stated that spilling the blood of an innocent person for any reason in the community is deeply and widely frowned upon, and anyone caught perpetrating such an act will be exposed.

“Some people living close to them had stated that the two of them had earlier engaged in the usual siblings quarrel. But we believe there will be more to it. In this town, if anyone sheds human blood for the purpose of a money ritual or under any circumstances, the person will be exposed instantly,” a resident said.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Olayinka Ayanlade, confirmed the incident.

He disclosed that the Commissioner of Police Adebowale Lawal had ordered an immediate investigation and also the transfer of the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID
