Benue Governor, Alia sacks all commissioners, Chief of Staff

  • The former commissioners have been directed to hand over to the permanent secretaries of their respective ministries

Benue State Governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, has announced the dissolution of the state executive Council.

Former Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Barr. Moses Atagher, is also announced as the new chief of staff to the governor.

The appointment of Atagher, a former acting Managing Director of the Federal Mortgage Bank, takes immediate effect at the close of the 12th executive council meeting of 2025

The development is announced by Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Terso Kula.

Governor Alia expressed gratitude to the outgoing commissioners for their two years of service, urging those who may not be reappointed to remain in the party and continue to support the administration.

Speaking on behalf of the dissolved commissioners, Barr. Bemsen Mnyim thanked the governor for the opportunity to serve, describing the experience as a learning process.

The former commissioners have been directed to hand over to the permanent secretaries of their respective ministries.
