- Keyamo highlighted improvements in government revenue and foreign reserves, crediting Tinubu’s administration for stabilising Nigeria’s economy.
- He acknowledged inflationary pressure but said the downward trend signals reforms are producing gradual but positive outcomes.
The minister of aviation, Festus Keyamo, has accused the African Democratic Congress of attempting to deceive Nigerians with what he described as recycled “419 tricks.”
Keyamo, who spoke on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics programme, said the ADC’s political strategies were outdated schemes that could no longer sway an enlightened electorate.
According to him, the party’s methods were nothing but courtroom‑tested antics Nigerians had already seen and rejected in the past.
“I know them very well, and they know us very well. These tactics they are employing are expired. They are 419 formats that have been used over the years,” the minister said.
“I was an EFCC prosecutor. I know those formats. Nigerians know them too. You cannot deceive Nigerians with these expired formats again.
“Reeling out figures, picking isolated indices, and using them to generalise is an old tactic. Nigerians are wiser now.”
The aviation minister admitted that inflation was still a challenge but insisted that President Bola Tinubu’s economic policies were beginning to stabilise the fundamentals.
He pointed out that the naira had shown steadiness in recent months, while foreign reserves and government revenues were also on the rise.
“These are indices of a healthy economy,” he added. “The trickle‑down effect will soon be felt through job creation and better living conditions.”
Keyamo maintained that the ruling All Progressives Congress remained firmly rooted across the country, boasting demographic advantage and enduring political structures, while describing the ADC as offering nothing new beyond “confused coalition tactics.”
