The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has reduced the pump price of petrol to N875 per litre in Lagos.
In Abuja, the product now sells for N900 per litre at the company’s retail outlets.
The reduction came two days after the national oil firm raised the price to N915 in Lagos and N955 in Abuja.
Checks on Wednesday showed that the NNPC retail stations cut the price of petrol by N40 in both cities.
At the Fadeyi outlet on Western Avenue, Lagos, motorists bought the product at N875 per litre.
Similarly, at the Federal Housing Authority filling station in Kubwa, Abuja, petrol was sold at N900 per litre.
However, Dangote refinery partners — Mobil and AP — maintained their pump prices at N915 per litre.
According to the National Bureau of Statistics, the average retail price of petrol rose by 38.32 per cent in June 2025.
The report noted that the average cost climbed to N1,037.66 per litre in June, compared to N750.17 in the same month of 2024.
Residents of Jigawa, Ondo, and Lagos states paid the highest average prices for petrol in June, the agency said.
In contrast, Yobe, Kogi, and Imo recorded the lowest average retail prices of N950.60, N986.67, and N987.86 respectively.
