Audu Ogbeh, a former minister of agriculture and one-time chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has died at the age of 78.
The politician passed away on Saturday, August 9, 2025.
In a statement, the family said: “He departed peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of integrity, service and dedication to our nation and community. We are comforted by the many lives he touched and the examples he set.”
They added that details of his funeral will be announced later.
“We thank friends, colleagues and well-wishers for their prayers and support during this time. We will appreciate some privacy at this time while we mourn the loss of our patriarch,” the statement read.
Ogbeh served as the PDP chairman from 2001 to 2005 before his appointment as minister of agriculture under the late former president, Muhammadu Buhari, from 2015 to 2019.
