Ramsey, key Villa midfielder with 17 goals in 167 appearances, strengthens Newcastle’s squad ahead of Premier League season start
Newcastle United have reached an agreement to sign Aston Villa midfielder Jacob Ramsey in a deal valued at around £40 million.
According to BBC Sport, both clubs were in advanced discussions earlier this week, and an agreement in principle has now been finalised. Only minor details remain before the transfer is officially completed.
Once finalised, Ramsey will undergo a medical and complete the remaining formalities ahead of his move to St James’ Park.
The timing of the deal is notable, as Villa are set to face Newcastle in their Premier League opener at 12:30 BST on Saturday.
Ramsey, 24, is a former England Under-21 international who has been a key figure for Villa since making his senior debut in 2019. He has scored 17 goals in 167 appearances and played a vital role in Unai Emery’s squad last season.
His arrival is expected to bolster Newcastle’s midfield options as they prepare for the new campaign.
