A violent confrontation between two rival bandit groups in Katsina State has left at least ten people dead.
The clash happened at a naming ceremony in Gidan Mai Aure, near Sayaya village in Matazu Local Government Area.
Security analyst Zagazola Makama, who confirmed the incident, said fight broke out between a gang led by Saimaila of Salihawa village and another group headed by Muhammadu from Maharba village.
Locals privy to the incident said that tension had been brewing between the two factions over control of territory, Zagazola disclosed in an X post on Wednesday.
“Trouble started when Muhammadu and his men stormed the naming ceremony, leading to a bloody shootout.
“By the end of the violence, Saimaila and nine of his followers were killed,” Makama wrote
