  • The president promises further government interventions aimed at enhancing NDC’s infrastructure to global standards.
  • Tinubu said that the Defence College could evolve into a postgraduate university once facilities are fully equipped and strategically upgraded.

President Bola Tinubu has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to completing the permanent site of the National Defence College (NDC).

Tinubu, represented by the vice-president, Kashim Shettima, gave the assurance on Friday at the graduation of Course 33 participants.

The event was held in Abuja, with 99 participants drawn from 19 countries in attendance.

The class included 25 officers from the Nigerian Army, 16 from the Nigerian Navy, and 12 from the Nigerian Air Force.

Also in the group were five officers from the Nigeria Police Force, 18 from ministries, departments and agencies, and 23 international participants.

Tinubu said the government’s vision is to transform the college into a Defence Postgraduate University once fully equipped.

He disclosed that he had directed the commandant to work closely with the minister of defence on a clear upgrade strategy.

The president said further interventions would be explored to enhance the infrastructure of the institution.

“I have been briefed on the state of infrastructure at the permanent site in Piwoyi. While progress has been made, much remains to be done,” he said.

“I assure you that this administration is committed to completing the permanent site.”

Tinubu urged the graduating officers to be ambassadors of the institution and uphold its motto of excellence, courage, patriotism and integrity.

According to him, those values remain the compass for a successful career in service.

“To our friends from other nations, I encourage you to sustain the friendships you have built in Nigeria,” he added.

He urged the foreign participants to strengthen the bonds into “bridges of cooperation and solidarity between your nations and ours.”
