Viral media reports claiming former governor of Anambra, Willie Obiano, is dead have been dismissed
Popular online media outlet, Sahara Reporters, had on Friday reported that Obiano died in a London hospital.
Debunking the report in a statement, former commissioner for information and public enlightenment in Anambra, Don Adinuba, disclosed that the former governor is alive.
According to him, Obiano is “healthy, strong and residing in Texas, US,” adding there was an iota of truth in the rumour.
He thanked everyone who reached out to show their love amid the rumoured death of the ex-governor, as it showed how much he mattered to many despite leaving office four years ago and now living a quiet private life in the US.
“The Nigerian media have been abuzz in the last couple of hours over a rumour that the immediate Anambra state Governor, Chief Willie Obiano, has passed on in London. This rumour has no basis. Chief Obiano lives in Texas, United States, and not London,” the former Anambra commissioner said in the statement.
“He is not just alive but healthy, strong and too agile for someone who has just turned 70 years. We thank people from different walks of life across the globe.
“At only 70 years, Chief Obiano has joined the pantheon of men like the Great Zik of Africa, whose rumoured death turned out to be utterly false and without any foundation”
