Farouk Ahmed, the Chief Executive Officer of Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority, NMDPRA, has stepped down from his position.
The embattled NMDPRA boss tendered his resignation on Wednesday after meeting with Tinubu.
His resignation came barely 24 hours after Aliko Dangote, president and chief executive of Dangote Industries Limited, accused him of corruptly enriching himself and living a life that is obviously beyond what his salary can afford.
His resignation was announced by Presidential spokesman, Bayo Onanuga announced in a statement on Wednesday.
According to him, President Bola Tinubu has nominated his replacement. He also disclosed that Gbenga Komolafe of the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission, NUPRC also resigned.
Bayo stated that Tinubu has asked the Senate to approve the nominations of two new chief executives for the NMDPRA and the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission, NUPRC.
“To fill these positions, President Tinubu has written to the Senate, requesting expedited confirmation of Oritsemeyiwa Amanorisewo Eyesan as CEO of NUPRC and Engineer Saidu Aliyu Mohammed as CEO of NMDPRA.
“The two nominees are seasoned professionals in the oil and gas industry,” Bayo said.
