The government of the United States has announced the capture of the Venezuelan president, Nicholas Maduro and his wife.
President Donald Trump announced the capture of Maduro in a post on his Truth Social on Saturday morning.
Maduro was captured on Saturday after the United States invaded the beleaguered South American country and carried out large-scale attacks on its capital, Caracas.

The invasion followed months of a standoff between Trump and Maduro, with the US president accusing Maduro of fuelling the drug trade in America. Trump’s claim has, however, been dismissed by observers who noted that the drug trafficking accusation is a smokescreen to manufacture consent for the invasion of Venezuela and a possible regime change in the country.
Since he assumed office last year, Trump has made no secret of his intention to carry out a regime change in Venezuela.
According to Sky News, Maduro’s capture is part of the safe exit deal from office that he negotiated with Trump.
