Court remands 59-year-old for allegedly defiling minor

A magistrate court has ordered the detention of one AbdulGaniu Mohammed for the alleged sexual assault of a minor.

Mohammed, a 59-year- old farmer, was reported to the police by one AbdulGafar Mohammed that the defendant allegedly defiled his younger sister

The defendant allegedly inserted his finger into the victim’s private part, claiming he wanted to know the cause of her bed-wetting.

The defendant allegedly took undue advantage of the victim and cunningly had carnal knowledge of her without her consent.

The prosecutor, Zacchaeus Folorunsho, informed the court that the case was not ordinarily bailable.

He further argued that granting the defendant bail would hamper the course of justice.

Trial Magistrate Muhammad Dansuki, who presided over the matter, ordered the remand of the defendant in the Correctional facility while the matter was adjourned till the 6th of June,2022.
