The House of Representatives has asked the federal government to declare a State of emergency in the various forest reserves in Owo/Ose Federal Constituency to catch the perpetrators of the Owo massacre.

This resolution followed a motion of urgent public importance moved by Oluwatimehin Adelegbe from Ondo State.

It would be recalled that some unknown terrorists invaded Saint Francis Catholic Church, killing several worshipers.

In his motion, Adelegbe said the attack left 50 persons dead in their pool of blood and many more injured and presently on lifeline at the various hospitals and homes.

He raised concerns about different attacks by gunmen in the region, including the murder of a First Class King, Olufon of Ifon in Ose Local Government, Oba Israel Adewusi.

“Unless drastic security measures are put in place, similar attacks will continue to be carried out by the perpetrators until many communities are completely wiped out in the Local Government Area and other parts of my Constituency,” he said.

Adelegbe also prayed that the police should intensify efforts to secure the arrest of the perpetrators of the attack.

The motion was unanimously adopted by the House when it was put to vote by the Speaker, Femi Gbajabiamila
