Bayern Munich star forward Sadio Mane will be treated by witch doctors as Senegal look to cure his injury ahead of this year’s World Cup in Qatar.

Mane sparked fears he could miss the tournament in Qatar after he limped off in Tuesday’s 6-1 win over Werder Bremen.

The Bundesliga giants subsequently released a statement where they ruled him out of this weekend’s clash with Schalke.

Senegalese senior executive Fatma Samoura, who is FIFA’s first female Secretary General, says that her country is willing to go to extreme methods to heal Mane.

Samoura has acknowledged that the unorthodox methods may not work, but they have to try in the slim hope that the practice proves successful.

“We are going to use witch doctors,” Samoura told Europe 1.

“I don’t know (if they’re effective) but in this instance, we’re going to use them anyway.

“We are hoping for miracles. He has to be there!”

Despite his fibula injury, Mane is set to be included in Senegal’s World Cup squad, which will be announced on Friday.

The former Liverpool forward fired Senegal into the World Cup after scoring the winning penalty in their play-off against Egypt.

He also scored the winning penalty in the shootout against Egypt which secured Senegal’s first Africa Cup of Nations title.

He is Senegal’s all-time top scorer with 34 goals, while he is seven games shy of becoming their record appearance maker.

Since departing Liverpool for Bayern in the summer, Mane has scored 11 goals and four assists in 23.
