Faruk Malami Yabo, a former All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, has defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Faruk Malami Yabo, a former Nigerian Ambassador to Jordan, joined the PDP and announced his defection at a PDP rally in Yabo LGA on Wednesday.

While describing his defection as a “homecoming,” the former envoy stated that he has always been a member of the state’s ruling party.

The defection is like someone returning home. I thank everyone who is part of this movement and I promise to help the party win the forthcoming elections in the state, he said.

Receiving Yabo, Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal commended the former Ambassador for joining the PDP.

Shekarau Dumps APC Weeks To 2023 Election

Hon. Hassan Adamu Shekarau, a former lawmaker, has resigned from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

WITHIN NIGERIA understands that the politician who represented Birnin Gwari/Giwa Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives confirmed his membership withdrawal in a letter dated January 3, 2023, reportedly addressed to the chairman of his ward party.

Shekarau justified his decision for personal reasons. The politician thanked APC members in Kaduna State who had previously supported him.

However, it was unclear which party the former lawmaker would join ahead of the upcoming 2023 general elections.

“This is to convey to you my decision to resign as a member of the All Progressives Congress with effect from 3rd January 2023,” Shekarau noted in the letter addressed to the party.
