James Benjamin, an officer with the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS), has been promoted to the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Corrections I.
The officer was recognised for his bravery during the July 5, 2022 break-in at the Medium Security Custodial Centre in Kuje, Abuja.
In a letter to the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire, and Immigration Service Board, Controller General of Corrections Haliru Nababa recommended the promotion.
Ahmadu Adamu, Deputy Controller General, Directorate of Human Resources, represented Nababa at Benjamin’s decoration.
The CG said the NCoS would continue to recognize and reward the commitment of its personnel in the discharge of their duties.
In his remarks, Adamu implored officers and men to be dedicated and charged the newly elevated officer to do more for the service.
Benjamin was recruited into NCoS on August 6, 2012, as Assistant Inspector, and until now was an Assistant Superintendent of Corrections II.
