Representatives of the Federal Government and the leadership of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, will resume talks on petrol subsidy removal palliatives on Monday, today.
Recall that after the fuel subsidy was removed on May 29, the NLC threatened to shut down the country’s economy by going on strike.
However, following a series of meetings with the federal government, the NLC announced the suspension of its planned strike on June 5.
However, the NLC and the Trade Union Congress, TUC, made some demands that would mitigate the impact of the increase in fuel prices and other essential commodities caused by the removal of subsidies.
It is expected that the both parties would harmonize some of the demands in the meeting scheduled for 4pm today.
According to the Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment, Kachallom Daju, the parties will reconvene at the presidential Villa, Abuja.
