  • Bode George asserts that a northerner won’t be PDP’s 2027 presidential candidate, emphasizing unity and inclusivity for electoral success
  • George warns against calamity, urging recognition of the reality that a Southern candidate is vital for PDP’s 2027 prospects

Former Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Bode George, unequivocally stated that a northerner will not be the party’s presidential candidate in 2027. George, addressing the press to discuss internal party matters, issued a stark warning about the potential consequences of disunity.

During the press briefing, George emphasized that unity and inclusivity within the party are crucial elements for future electoral successes. He highlighted, “Party unity and inclusiveness of all members are ingredients to a viable strategy for our future electoral victories.”

However, George expressed concern over a growing faction advocating for a northerner as the party’s saviour in the 2027 elections. He warned that such a move would be calamitous for the PDP.

“A northerner cannot be the presidential candidate of our party in 2027, pure and simple. The sooner some members pushing this agenda recognize this truth, the better for our collective sanity,” George asserted. He stressed that members should grasp the reality that a Southern candidate must represent the PDP in 2027, and collective support is crucial to defeating the APC candidate.

George outlined a timeline, stating, “Until 2031, nobody should think of contesting for the presidential ticket of our party from the North. The real elders in our party should stand up and speak the truth.”

As the PDP navigates internal dynamics, George’s firm stance sets the tone for the party’s direction, emphasizing the importance of regional representation in shaping the PDP’s presidential landscape for the 2027 elections and beyond.
