The Managing Director and CEO of the North East Development Commission (NEDC), Mohammed G. Alkali, led a delegation to commiserate with the people and government of Borno State following the tragic suicide bomb attack in Gwoza last Saturday. The attack resulted in numerous deaths and injuries.

During a Tuesday visit to the victims at General Hospital in Maiduguri, Alkali expressed deep sorrow over the incident. He promised immediate support for the injured and prayed for their speedy recovery.

Alkali assured that all victims of the suicide bomb blast, both those receiving treatment in Gwoza and Maiduguri, would be provided with necessary assistance to ensure their well-being.

He also emphasized the NEDC’s ongoing commitment to providing relief to communities affected by insurgency in the region. Alkali affirmed the Commission’s dedication to working with federal and state governments to fulfil its mandate of rebuilding the Northeast.

“I am sure the state government will constitute a committee, and we will be part of it to see how we can assist as a Commission that has been making an impact in various sectors,” Alkali added.

The NEDC MD/CEO and his team offered condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in the tragic incident. They were received by Dr. Babashehu Muhammad, Medical Director of the State Specialist Hospital, Maiduguri.

Since its inception, the NEDC has significantly contributed to the health sector by providing hospital facilities, equipment, consumables, developmental medical facilities, and support services across the Northeast region.
