- Morka said Tinubu’s bold policies are beginning to reverse Nigeria’s decline.
- The APC spokesperson accused ADC coalition members of being behind Nigeria’s generational poverty.
The national publicity secretary of the All Progressives Congress, Felix Morka, said on Sunday that the party remains unshaken by the opposition’s latest alliance.
He made this known during an interview on Arise Television, where he dismissed the coalition formed under the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as lacking credibility.
According to him, those behind the new coalition are individuals who contributed to Nigeria’s prolonged economic troubles.
“The All Progressives Congress is not jittery; we have no reason to be jittery at all,” he said.
“We are not jittery because the president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, who is the leader of our party, is doing exactly what Nigerians elected him to do.
“In my experience, this president, unlike any other president that has come through generations of presidents in our country, decided upon his swearing in that some of the most acerbic challenges confronting our country must be confronted with seriousness and with total devotion.
“He summoned the political will, which no other president has done before him, to confront those challenges.”
Morka argued that president Bola Tinubu’s administration is already producing results, despite claims to the contrary.
He accused opposition elements of launching an early campaign to discredit Tinubu’s presidency before it had even taken off.
“You will recall that this judgment by these characters who have now construed themselves to the ADC began very early on in the life of this administration to vilify this government and issue a report card that this government has not met the expectations of Nigerians,” he said.
“Even in the first few days of this administration, individually, they all came to that conclusion — this is a predetermined judgment.”
He described their criticism as lacking substance, branding their claims “bogus in the extreme”.
“These are many of the architects of Nigeria’s misfortune that has now become totally generational,” the APC spokesperson said.
“They are the architects of Nigeria’s economic stagnation. They are the architects of Nigeria’s incredible dimensions of corruption and underdevelopment and extreme poverty.”
Morka defended Tinubu against accusations of mismanaging the country, noting that his only public office before the presidency was as governor of Lagos state.
“This president has only been the governor of Lagos state. He’s never been on the national stage. Yet, the people who have occupied and saturated the political stage nationally today dare to suggest that this president is the reason Nigeria is on its knees,” he said.
“Nigeria is no longer on its knees. They brought Nigeria to its knees. But Nigeria, by virtue of the commitment of this president, has decided that no longer will Nigeria crumble to fall on its knees.
“Nigeria has arisen. Our economy has arisen. The hope for Nigeria and for the future has arisen. He has jettisoned the popularity — the need to be popular with Nigerians — because he’s putting Nigeria first. And when he puts Nigeria first, he puts Nigerians first. Our collective, your best interest first.”
Morka concluded that the APC is not threatened by any political arrangement, no matter the label.
“We’re not concerned about any kind of coalition, whether under the ADC or under ADA or any other nomenclature that they choose,” he said.
