Government of Kaduna state has appealed to residents to embrace peace and break the cycle of killings and reprisal attacks.

The state government also encouraged residents to always seek justice without recourse to violence.

This was contained in a statement released on Saturday by Samuel Aruwan, commissioner for internal security and home affairs.

According to the statement, all residents must come together to ensure the success of the peace-building efforts of stakeholders, who have been working to ensure peace.

“The Kaduna state Government has renewed appeals to citizens to end deadly cycles of violence, following reports from security agencies that five people were killed in a series of attacks within Zangon Kataf local government area,” the statement reads.

“According to the reports, a 10-year-old herder was killed by unidentified persons around Madauchi Forest, Zangon Kataf LGA.

“The boy (identified as the son of one Alhaji Dare Mato) was attacked while herding cattle. The corpse of the young herder was recovered and buried.

“Following the disturbing cycle of violence, the Kaduna state government has appealed to all residents to embrace recourse to the law, and break the brutal cycle of killing and reprisal, to adequately support the government’s peace-building efforts in the area.”

Over the past few years, many communities in the state have witnessed a wave of violent attacks that have led to the death of many residents and the destruction of properties
