Jigawa LG reopens schools after chloera outbreak

Guri, a local government in Jigawa state has announced the reopening of schools closed due to the cholera outbreak in the area.

This announcement was made by the education secretary, Alhaji Sale Tata Alanjo while addressing questions from newsmen.

He said the Education Authority had ordered the immediate re-opening of six schools that were closed as a result of cholera out break in the schools.

Alanjo said the affected primary and junior secondary schools include Madamuwa, Zugo, Lafiya, Dolen Zugo primary schools, junior and senior secondary schools Lafiya.

He said the directives followed the successful defeat of the disease in the four villages where the outbreak was recorded.

He, however, advised parents to ensure that their children report back to school.

He commended the state, local Governments and development partners for the supply of drugs to curtail the outbreak of the disease.

Recall that the Jigawa State Ministry of health had confirmed the death of over 100 persons as a result of cholera outbreak in nineteen local Government areas of the State.
