Kwara State University (KWASU) Undergraduate Admission Requirements

To be eligible for undergraduate programmes at KWASU, applicants must meet the following requirements:

General Requirements

  • Age: The minimum age for admission is 16 years, unless the candidate is certified as gifted.
  • Recommendation: Applicants must provide a letter of recommendation or testimonial from their last secondary school principal.
  • JAMB Result: A valid JAMB result is required for admission.
  • O’Level Requirements: Applicants must possess a minimum of five (5) credits in relevant subjects, including English Language, in WASSCE/NECO/GCE/NABTEB/SISC Examinations or their equivalent, obtained at not more than two (2) sittings.
  • Mathematics Requirement: Credit in Mathematics is compulsory for candidates seeking admission into Degree Programmes in the Faculty of Management Sciences, Natural and Applied Sciences, and some Education Courses.

Specific Requirements for Different Programmes

  • IJMB/JUPEB: Five credit passes in relevant subjects, including English Language, at not more than 2 sittings in O’Level WASSCE, NECO or GCE.
  • Remedial Programme: At least three (3) credit passes in relevant subjects, including English or Mathematics, in O’Level WASSCE, NECO or GCE at a sitting.
  • Direct Entry: Suitable qualifications and a valid JAMB DE form are required for Direct Entry admission.

Additional Requirement

A letter of reference from a person of reputable standing in society, vouching for the student’s good behaviour, is required as a condition for admission or readmission.

Kwara State University (KWASU) Postgraduate Admission Requirements

Kwara State University (KWASU) offers various postgraduate programmes across different fields of study. The following are the general admission requirements for KWASU postgraduate programmes:

  • First Degree: Applicants must hold a first degree from a recognised university.
  • O’Level Requirements: All candidates must meet the university’s O’level requirements.
  • Doctorate Degree: Applicants with a master’s degree from a recognised university must have a minimum CGPA of 60% or its equivalent in the final Master’s Degree Examination.
  • Master’s Degree: Graduates of recognised universities must possess a minimum of Second Class Honours Degree (Lower Division). Holders of third-class honours degrees with a postgraduate diploma certificate in the relevant field may be admitted, provided they score at least 60% on the qualifying examination administered by the university’s respective departments.
