Confusion As Ambode Fails To Present 2019 Budget

There was confusion at Lagos State House of Assembly on Monday as Lagos State Governor Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode failed to present the 2019 Appropriation bill to the House of Assembly as earlier scheduled.
Although it could not be ascertained why the Governor did not present the Budget, it was gathered that the Governor did not make a formal request to present the Budget before the House.
Withinnigeria  checks revealed that as early as 8:00 a.m security operatives attached to the Governor were seen at the entrance of the Assembly. It was however noted that as at 10:00a.m information trickled in that the governor was no longer going to present the Budget, even as the security operatives withdrew from the Assembly entrance and its environ.
As of the time of filling this report, the House was holding a Parliamentary session over the issue and later adjourned sitting to January 28th without betraying any sign of expecting the governor to come for budget presentation.
Top government source blamed the confusion on the cold war between the governor and legislators, saying the governor had informed the lawmakers since Friday that he would be coming to present the budget on Monday, as the two arms of government successfully resolved their differences which hampered the presentation last year. The source added that the problem was from the lawmakers as the budget presentation was their show.
