Curvy Nairobi socialite Bridget Achieng has finally revealed why she decided to give up her dark skin for a lighter complexion.

When she was 22 years old, Achieng claimed that she missed out on lucrative deals because her skin was too dark for her employers.

“When I was 22-years old, I went for acting auditions but I failed to qualify due to the colour of my skin. In one of the auditions, I was the best candidate but the judge told me my skin tone was not what they wanted,” Bridget revealed.

Often, the socialite would be told she qualified for the position but her complexion was just not flattering for the camera. All this caused the Nairobi Diaries actress to try and seek a solution after her self-esteem took a plunge.

So when she bagged some cash, Bridget quickly started the process of bleaching her skin and now she says she is beyond proud of how she looks.

“Sometimes, I would go out with my friends and men would approach them because of their skin tone, and not even look my way because I was dark. I also had self-esteem issues growing up. I vowed to bleach when I got money and in 2014, when I landed employment, I decided to bleach my skin,” the mum-to-be narrated.
