Eagles Focused on Madagascar Match, Not Distracted By Bonus Row – Ahmed Musa

Super Eagles vice-captain Ahmed Musa says the team is not distracted by the wrangling over the non payment of their bonuses by the Nigeria Football Federation as they continue their spirited chase for a fourth Africa Cup of Nations title in Egypt.

The Super Eagles players shunned a pre-match press conference and threatened not to attend their final training session ahead of Wednesday’s 1-0 win against the Syli Nationale of Guinea over the issue before they were prevailed upon by top officials of the soccer house.

The NFF, according to reports, set a Friday deadline for the payment of the bonuses and allowances which was not met.

Musa, who plays for Saudi Professional Football League club, Al Nassr however insists that the players are firmly focused on the task ahead of them rather than engaging the Federation in another faceoff.

“We have put the disagreement about bonuses behind us, we spoke amongst ourselves. I don’t know what the NFF has planned, but we do our job,” Musa stated during his interaction with the media on Saturday in the press conference room of the Alexandria Stadium.

“Madagascar are very good and it will be a tough game, but we are not afraid of any country. Governments all over Africa need to do better with financing teams for international competitions.”

The Sunday’s game at the Alexandria Stadium will start at the 5.00pm Nigerian time.
