Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed Abdulkadir, has called on traditional rulers to shun partisan politics in order to preserve the sanctity and dignity of the traditional institutions.

The governor also expressed the readiness of his administration to work in synergy with neighbouring Gombe state for a mutual understanding particularly among border communities of the two states.

Senator Bala Mohammed said this when he received in audience, members of Gombe Emirate Council led by the Emir, Alh (Dr) Abubakar Shehu Abubakar who paid him a courtesy visit at the Council Chamber, Government House Bauchi.

The governor also said that the present PDP led administration would engage all stakeholders towards ensuring that affected communities of Alkaleri oil prospecting site benefitted from the natural resources being exploited.

He assured that his administration has taken measures to restore the lost glory of traditional institutions as part of efforts to ensure security in the state, he, therefore, cautioned traditional rulers against engaging in partisan politics so as to maintain their roles as custodians of culture and heritage.

Earlier, the Emir of Gombe, Dr Abubakar Shehu Abubakar who led the delegation, said that the visit was to congratulate the Governor for his victory in the last gubernatorial election in the state.

Dr Shehu Abubakar who acknowledged the remarkable achievements of the governor while he was the FCT Minister, assured the governor of their resolve to embark on fervent prayers for the success of his administration.

It will be recalled that Gombe State was created out of the defunct Bauchi State in 1996 by the military administration of late former Head of State, General Sani Abacha.
