Police has arrested one, Sulaimon Quadri for attacking an employee of the Eko Electricity Distribution Company.

Newsmen learnt that the incident happened during routine revenue collection visit to consumers by the field representative of the power firm in the Aradagun zone of the Agbara District of the company’s operational network.

In a footage made available to newsmen, the EKDEC employee was seen moving away from Quadri, who was threatening him with a butcher’s knife.

Quadri made careless efforts to swing the sharpened knife at the field representative and succeeded in inflicting a deep cut on his palm before the EKDEC employee flees.

Quadri was subsequently arrested and taken to the Badagry Police Station.

In a statement made available to newsmen by the Head of Media and Communications, EKEDC, Sulaiman Aledeh, the firm begged customers to desist from assaulting its employees.

The statement highlighted the alarming rate of violence against workers in the electricity distribution industry and reiterated the EKEDC’s zero tolerance for such barbaric acts.

Aledeh warned customers that the company was ready to go the full length to seek justice and ensure that any form of assault against its workers while discharging their lawfully assigned duties would be resisted.

“Quadri’s case will serve as a deterrent to others as the company will not condone such acts,” he added.
