Mr. Eazi recently had an interview with a US radio station where he spoke on the high cost of internet data in Nigeria and other countries as well as its effects on businesses.
The singer, who is currently dating Temi Otedola, revealed that he uses an unlimited data plan in his apartment in London and a 10GB to 20GB data plan in his apartment in Nigeria.
Eazi pointed out that the cost of his data plan in Nigeria is more expensive than that of his London apartment.
Mr Eazi gave an example of a situation when he tried to reach an artiste from Ghana who was on a night plan, so whenever he tries reaching him, it has to only be at night.
Asked why Internet data is expensive in Nigeria, Eazi said: I think it is just business because they can.”
The interviewer responded,
“but they are ripping people off. Like.. people don’t have money and we are going to steal from them.”
“yes, they are essentially alienating the poor”, another female interview added.
Mr Eazi further explained that data is cheaper in East Africa because a superstar artiste like Diamond platnumz from Tanzania can get up to 7 million in a day when he drops his song online.
