After two months of closure as a result of vandalization of the medical health centre, the management of Osun State Polytechnic Iree has directed all Full Time Students to resume on Monday, 5th August, 2019.

We had earlier reported the vandalization of the medical health centre by angry protesters over the loss of one Shehu, a higher national diploma student of the school which led to the closure of the school.

The management has decided to reopen the school after 2 months following the approval of the board of studies of the Investigative Panel on the cause of crisis between the students and school.

The decision of the management was made available to Newsmen in a statement signed by the Registrar of the institution, Mr. Busari Salawu.

The release stated that the students are to pay a reparation fee of Ten Thousand Naira only with a sworn affidavit of good behaviour from a court of Criminal Jurisdiction.

“To pay the Ten Thousand Naira reparation fee, the students are enjoined to visit the Institution’s website to get the link for the online payment and print their payment receipt online for clearance to partake in the academic activities in the school.

Upon payment of the reparation fee, the students are urged to submit the original copy of their affidavit of good conduct to their respective Faculty Officers as from 9:00am on Monday 5th August, 2019.

It would be recalled that the Institution was closed down by the authorities of the Polytechnic on 1st June, 2019 following a protest on the death of a student who slumped in the examination hall on the 31st May.

This resulted to looting, vandalisation and arson of the Institution’s Health Center, where facilities worth over Fifty Million Naira were destroyed by the irate students.

Subsequently, the second semester examination for the 2018/2019 examination of the Institution was disrupted and put on hold by the students.

The release added that academic activities would commence immediately.
