The Bauchi State Gubernatorial Election Petition Tribunal has affirmed and validated the election of Sen Bala Mohammed as the duly elected Governor of Bauchi State.

While delivering the judgement on Monday, Chairman of Tribunal, Justice Salihu Shuaibu on behalf of other members of the Tribunal held that Sen Bala Mohammed Abdulkadir, who contested the last gubernatorial election under the umbrella of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), having scored the highest number of votes as declared by INEC was validly elected.

The Tribunal, therefore, dismissed the petition brought before it by the gubernatorial candidate of the APC, Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar who challenged the result of the gubernatorial election alleging electoral malpractice particularly overvoting in three LGAs of Bauchi, Bogoro and Tafawa-Balewa.

Recall that Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar and the APC called 33 witnesses who testified at the Tribunal but the Tribunal dismissed all the evidence in reaching its judgement.

There have been wild jubilation in the state capital as supporters of Governor Bala Mohammed and the PDP have taken over major streets within the Bauchi metropolis.
