Naomi Campbell doesn’t appear to be in a rush to settle down and have children, as the supermodel says she’s waiting to see what the ‘universe brings’.
The 49-year-old model is currently living – and loving – single life without a partner or children, but considers herself a mother figure to the kids she meets through her philanthropy work.
And when you live such a jetset life as Naomi does, there’s probably little time for much else.
Revealing whether she’s ready to have children, Naomi told the Wall Street Journal: ‘Not yet – I’ll see what the universe brings me. For now, what the universe has delivered is very much in the spirit of a “chosen family”.’
Included in that ‘chosen family’ is South Sudanese model Adut Akech, who has become one of Naomi’s proteges. In the past year, Naomi has been romantically linked to the likes of Skepta and Liam Payne, the latter of whom she was rumoured to have dated earlier this year.
The pair never confirmed their relationship and Naomi appears to have been single ever since. Addressing her dating life, the British model said: ‘For me, privacy is important to know each other, and I always worry that my job will not allow that.’
Recalling advice given to her by an a-list friend, Naomi added: ‘But I have ways. I was taught that by Robert De Niro. Being alone doesn’t mean you are lonely. I don’t have time to be bored, and I don’t have time to be lonely.’ The model’s fast-paced lifestyle and charity work was praised by British Vogue editor-in-chief Edward Enninful, who told the magazine: ‘If Naomi wasn’t modeling, she could run a small country.
‘She has that thing, like most black people in any industry: You have to fight twice as hard. She’s always been fighting, but now even more.’
Naomi’s certainly been a busy lady recently. The fashion muse hosted another year of her Fashion For Relief charity show during London Fashion Week, to fight against poverty and disadvantaged people around the world, raising millions in donations over the past 14 years.
