Decomposing body of 50-year-old chef found in his employer’s apartment in Lagos

Tragedy as a decomposing body of a 50-year-old chef identified as Eric Ekpeyong was found recently in a room belonging to his employer on Akintan Street in the Surulere Local Government Area of Lagos state.

Eric Ekpeyoung worked as a caregiver and chef for one Mr Remi who was battling an undisclosed ailment, according to his neighbours.

His neighbours disclosed that Late Ekpeyoung battled with an ailment and turned down pleas from neighbours to seek medical care before his demise.

His neighbours further revealed that the deceased 50-year-old chef laughed off all pleas to seek medical care until he died and his body was discovered  a week after.

It was learnt that the incident was reported to the Surulere police division after the brother of the sick man, Mr Oluwaseyi who employed the chef was alerted by the police.

The brother of the sick man who employed the chef, one Mr Oluwaseyi, was alerted and he reported the matter to the Surulere police division.

Reacting to the incident, the Police Public Relations in the state, Bala Elkana confirmed the incident.

Elkana said preliminary investigations showed that there was no mark of violence on the corpse.

He added that the decomposed body was taken to the Mainland Hospital’s morgue for an autopsy.
