During a protest by members of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN) aka Shiites in Kaduna state on Wednesday, February 26th, a 15-year-old Shiite member identified as Muhammed Jawwad was reportedly shot dead.

WITHIN NIGERIA learnt that Muhammad was on the streets alongside other Shiite members to demand the release of their leader, Ibrahim El-Zakzaky who has been in detention since 2015.

Recall that the Kaduna state government banned activities of Shiites in the state in July 2016.

Shiites members have continued to storm the streets to protest the release of their leader in the state despite the ban.
