Tragedy struck in Eastern Cape as an 83-year-old South African woman identified as Nosayinethi Manundu was reportedly thrown into a drum of water by a mob after being accused of being a witch.

According to Sowetan, family of the deceased disclosed that a group of villagers arrived at Nosayinethi Manundu’s home, accused her of witchcraft and being responsible for the death of her relative at Majuba village in Sterkspruit.

The 80-year-old woman was accused of killing 23-year-old Samkelo Manundu through witchcraft. Manundu reportedly lost his life in Franschoek, Western Cape where he was stabbed to death.

The 83-year-old woman was grabbed, beaten up, burnt and forced into a water-filled 150-litre drum.

A 38-year-old relative said;

“After the incident, we no longer trust anyone as we have been getting threatening calls. I am struggling to sleep at night as I can still hear my grandmother screaming and begging for her life.”
