China based Nigerian Super Agent, Alex Otedola unveils $540,000 donation to fight against Covid-19 in Nigeria

Oni Segun Alex has joined the leagues of Nigerians in diaspora that are making their country proud. The China based businessman has announced the donation of NGN 200 Million (approximately $540,000 ) towards the fight against Covid-19 in Nigeria.

Oni who is better known as Alex Otedola announced the donation that appears to be the largest contribution made by a single individual under 30 via his Official Instagram and twitter page.

After the announcement, Alex drew a lot of criticism from his fans on his Social media accounts with claims that the money could have been shared among his fans instead. Afterwards, he made a speech himself to further clarify his purpose. In his speech, Alex noted that the main purpose of his donation is to fight against the deadly virus which has put the whole world on standby ,as this is his own way of giving back to the country he calls home and have so much love for, He called on other wealthy Nigerians to emulate his actions.

“God has been so kind to me in life and I feel highly privileged. The only way I can show my gratitude to Him is to use my resources to support those who are underprivileged. This I intend to do for the rest of my life,” he said.

Nigerian ambassador to China who was also touched by the gesture of Oni Segun Alex commended on his generosity and said that Nigeria’s richest people must refocus their minds on caring for Nigeria’s poor.

According to the Nigerian Ambassador to China, in 2015, Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari established one of Africa’s largest social investment programs in Africa with about N500 billion annually.

He added, “Yet we are far from where we ought to be. It is obvious that government cannot do it alone. So, we don’t need to be billionaires to do our part. It is time for every one of us to decide that we can make a difference to ensure that the poor and vulnerable are given a decent life.”

“People find it very difficult in Nigeria to give money away but the more you give the more God blesses you. Alex, you are no more a rich man. You have joined the league of wealthy men.

Last December Alex Otedola donated 40 million Naira ($105,000 ) to complete the medical center in his hometown. The several acts of giving by the Super Agent has ranked him among Nigeria’s most revered philanthropists.

Alex who recently turned 26 is one of the most successful African Agent and entrepreneur based in China, he has provided Jobs for over 700 Expats in China within 2 years, Mr. Alex is also The CEO of The Laowai Tv China.
