A total of 91 people will be put under quarantine, after returning to Nigeria through land borders, as the COVID-19 continues to spread.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama, speaking at a press conference organised by the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 in Abuja on Wednesday, said 67 persons had already arrived at the country’s land border.

Onyeama added that 24 more would arrive today (Thursday).

They would all be isolated for 14 days and watched for possible coronavirus symptoms, before they can be allowed to leave for their different destinations in the country.

The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), in a statement later on Wednesday, confirmed that the 67 Nigerians had arrived at the Seme border in Lagos State.

The NIS Public Relations Officer, Sunday James, revealed that 58 of the returnees were from Osun State.
