The Lagos State government has announced another coronavirus death, bringing the total number of COVID-19 related deaths in the state to seven.

“One COVID-19 death was recorded,” the state Ministry of Health said on Twitter on Wednesday.

“This brings to seven, the number of COVID-19 related deaths in Lagos State.”

The victim was a 63-year-old male, who had no history of travel or contact with any confirmed case.

Lagos State has the highest number of coronavirus cases in Nigeria since the first index case was recorded in February.

The state which has been on lockdown for more than two weeks has recorded 217 cases. 70 COVID-19 patients have also been discharged from the State’s Yaba Isolation Centre.

The State health commissioner Akin Abayomi also disclosed on Tuesday that 118,000 have been tested in the state during an active search for coronavirus cases.

The commissioner said the community search was activated to limit the spread of the disease in the state which has the highest number of COVID-19 cases in the country.
