47 killed as bandits attack Katsina state communities over palliatives received from state government

Five people dead and one villager injured as bandits reportedly launched an attack in Kajera and Magazawa villages in Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State on Tuesday May 19.

WITHIN NIGERIA learnt that the bandits invaded the community on motorbikes and opened fire on buildings and houses with residents inside.

Reacting to the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Mohammed Shehu described the incident as a reprisal attack.

He said two of the bandits had been killed on Sunday May 16, in one of the communities in Tsafe Local Government.

In a related story, WITHIN NIGERIA reported that Military troops attached to the Operation Hadarin Daji have reportedly killed at 26 bandits terrorising Kwari and Garin Sado villages in Jibia Council Area of Katsina State.

WITHIN NIGERIA learnt that the troops recovered four AK 47 rifles, two locally made pistols and three Dane guns were recovered during the operation.

This was contained in a statement signed by the Acting Director, Defence Media Operations, Defence Headquarters, Brigadier General Benard Onyeuko.
