A man identified as Akeem Adebayo has been arrested by Osun state police command for allegedly raping a 16-year-old girl at a stream in Ido-Osun, Egbedore Local Government Area of the state on Saturday, August 29.
WITHIN NIGERIA learnt that the 16-year-old girl had gone to wash her clothes at a stream close to her father’s house before the suspect reportedly hit her on the head with a sharp object, leaving her with a head cut. The suspect, Adebayo also raped her afterwards.
According to report, the victim’s cry for help alerted the passersby who rushed to the scene, apprehended the suspect and rushed the victim to the hospital.
Speaking on the matter, the Police Public Relation Officer in the state, Yemisi Opalola confirmed the incident.
The PPRO, Opalola added that the suspect, Adebayo is now in police custody and investigation into the matter is ongoing.
