The competition of the five year tenure of the University of Ibadan’s vice-chancellor, Prof. Idowu Olayinka was celebrated by workers of the institution with several activities indicating that they were relieved with his exit.

WITHIN NIGERIA learnt that the workers began the day’s activities with a Thanksgiving before proceeding to the VC’s office at the Tekena Tamuno Building where they swept the entire place.

It was also learnt that the joyous workers proceeded to the main gate where they swept the entire area till the main road.

According to OYOINSIGHT report, the workers burned all the brooms they had with them on getting to the main road and sanitized their hands before moving back into the institution.

The joyous workers fried beans cake to mark the auspicious moment after they left the main road.

The five-year of Olayinka as the vice-chancellor of the institution was reportedly fraught with battles with workers union over the running of the institution’s affairs.
