Former House of Representatives candidate on the platform of Accord Party during the 2015 general elections, Dr Fatai Aborode has been reportedly shot dead.

WITHIN NIGERIA learnt that Aborode who doubles as the Chief Executive Officer, Kunfayakun Green Treasures Limited, was allegedly killed near his farm, along Apodun village, Iganagan by suspected Fulani herdsmen, on Friday evening.

The politician and prominent farmer, Aborode was reportedly killed just as he was leaving his farm around 4pm in company with his manager on a motorbike.

A source said, “Suspected Fulani herdsmen just killed a former house of representatives candidate on the platform of Accord party during the 2015 general poll in Igangan, Ibarapa North West Local Council Development Authority, Dr Fatai Aborode.

“He was attacked by the hoodlums on his farm, he was macheted severally and he died while being rushed to a nearby hospital. He went to farm with one person on a bike. On their way coming from farm they met the Fulani men. The other person escaped.”

However, efforts made to have reactions from the police was abortive as calls made to the Police Public Relations Officer, Oyo State Command, Mr Olugbenga Fadeyi, were not successful and text message sent to him were not replied.

The source said no arrest had been made at the time of filing this report.

He died in between Tapa and Aiyete community on his way to an hospital in Igboora.

The tragedy struck less than 24hours after an agric stakeholders meeting held in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital in respect of the recurrent attacks by herdsmen in the zone.
